Come Blow Your Horn, written by Neil Simon, tells the story of Harry Baker, who is the owner of the largest artificial fruit business in the east and the father of two sons. His son Alan is a 33 year old playboy and Buddy, a 21 year old with an urge to assert himself, is very different. The two brothers are continually trying their father’s easily abused patience. Alan works only two days a week and goes on skiing or golfing jaunts with attractive female companions the other five. Buddy, up until now has been a nice, obedient son, but decides his twenty-first birthday is his chance to break out and see the world, and be more like his older brother. Buddy shows up at Alan’s bachelor apartment, leaving a rebellious letter to his parents as an explanation. His worried mother and overbearing father don’t understand and complications ensue in hysterical Neil Simon fashion, as Buddy learns from Alan what it means to come blow your horn! The play was Neil Simon’s first and an instant success on Broadway.
