Whatever you call it Creole, Dialect, Island Talk, Native Language or Patois Caribbean Cultural Theatre’s annual celebration of the Caribbean’s linguistic heritage has been a hit from its inception. Originated as a birthday celebration for Jamaican cultural icon, Miss Lou, the program invites New Yorkers to explore the intricacies of “Caribbean English” and related dialects in song, poetry, scetch comedy and this year – Duppy Stories. In a performance that harkens back to regional folk performance gatherings of Tea Meetings, Best Village Shows, Penny Concerts and Nine Night everybody gets involved!!!
The pan-Caribbean cast includes Guyanese folk musician Wrickford Dalgetty, comedians Susan Olton Kennedy and Louis Antoine from Trinidad, Barbadian actress Arnett Nurse, Jamaican storytellers Dianne Dixon and Marcha Tracey and much more!
