A Raisin in the Sun, which derived its name from a line from a Langston Hughes poem, relates the story of the Youngers, an African-American family living in a sunless, cramped tenement on Chicago’s South Side. The family matriarch, Mama, receives a substantial sum of insurance money left by her late husband. She would like to use the money to buy a house, a dream she shared with her late husband. However, each family member has a different idea of how the money should be used.
There is an additional performance on Thursday, Feb 5 at 2pm.
