YUNG-LI DANCE is an independent contemporary dance company founded by choreographer Yung-Li Chen in 2008 in New York City. Through original choreography and public education program, the company strives to engage audiences from all backgrounds and experience to scrutinize issues and phenomenon happening in daily life through the most basic language – physical movement.

Yung-Li Chen a native of Taiwan, received her MFA degree from Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase College in 2008. Upon graduation, she founded I-danse. As artistic director of I-danse, Yung-li Chen helms a powerful exploration of the dance form that continually produces fascinating and moving dance pieces. Her works have won several composition awards in Taiwan and have also been presented in Japan, Spain, and Mexico. In New York, the venues that have hosted her include prominent festivals such as Reverb Dance, DUMBO Dance, American Dance Guild, and Downtown Dance, as well as top series and programs like Dixon Place’s Mondo Cane! Commission Program, Choreography’s Canvas, WAXworks, and Fertile Ground New Works Series.

Christine Wang, native of Taiwan, received B.A. from University of Maryland at College Park, then spent 9 years in Taiwan and China learning and exploring the art of living. Christine was introduced to the amazing world of art and design upon arriving in Shanghai in 2002. Through working and interacting with architects, artists, designers, curators, and art enthusiasts, Christine decided to pursuit the career of arts marketing by organizing regular not-for-profit art events as well as crossover events with commercial partners. In 2008, Christine moved to New York to study for Arts Administration at NYU. Christine is very fortunate to join hands with Yung-Li Chen in May 2010 to start Yung-Li Dance.
