The Show with Matt Leazer and MJ Hughes

My name’s Matt Leazer, and with my co-host MJ Hughes we’ve built a new kind of theatre: “The Show” is a monthly, late-night experience blending comedy, music, improv, and the sacred art of genuine human connection. It began as an experiment in presence: What happens when two artists step on stage with nothing but trust, timing, and each other? What we discovered was a show—improvised in parts, deeply structured in others—that breaks the fourth wall, invites the audience in, and asks everyone in the room (us included) to stay honest. Since January, we’ve built our following from the ground up. Packing out small venues, gathering a strange and beautiful audience, and pushing towards the future of independent theatre in New York. We’re performing May 24th at 7:30pm at East Village Basement (321 E 9th St, New York, NY 10003), and we’re excited to invite YOU to join us! Together we'll uncover the mysteries of the Universe, conduct ancient rituals, and maybe even find your dad!
