About This Show

Featuring: The Kids From the ORIGINAL Paul Green SCHOOL OF ROCK performing classic rock favorites!!!

You saw the Jack Black movie, now see THE REAL THING! Before there ever was a School of Rock movie, Paul Green has operated The Paul Green School of Rock Music – a performance based, interactive music school in Philadelphia for kids 8 to 18 years old. He puts them on a strict regimen of classic rock and tries to impart a little Buddhism along the way. He describes himself as tough, but his affection for the students is only thinly veiled. He pushes the kids to deliver accurate renditions of old hits, never offering easier arrangements or shorter versions. They play with a combination of professional skill and gawky teen-age charm.

The School aims to give kids the basics — scales, chords, rhythm and breathing exercises — but the real focus is on performing. Every three or four months they put on shows. To date they have played over 350 such concerts, in front of over 100,000 people.

The new “Rock School” documentary by Don Argott dominated the Sundance Film Festival this year, drawing applause and rave reviews. Argott traces the ups-and-downs of the Paul Green School of Rock Music, following an entire season of classes.
