The Adventures of Mottel was Sholom Aleichem’s last novel, and is regarded as one of his funniest. This fast-paced musical comedy follows an Orthodox Jewish family from Tsarist Russia to the United States via Ellis Island. Mottel is a mischievous and independent boy who dreams of becoming an artist, and he and his family show great courage, initiative and humor as they face various hardships along the way to America.
