About the Show
STATES: OBSERVATION is a Butoh dance trilogy—Origin, Mutation, and Entropy at Absolute Zero—created and performed by Scoop Slone and developed in residence at 3AM Theatre for Pride Month. Rooted in quantum physics and informed by Zen Buddhism, Shintoism, and queer theory, the work explores the fluidity of identity through a deeply personal and poetic lens. With performances that mirror the self back to itself, Scoop invites audiences into a world where observation shapes reality, and fragmented identities search for cohesion amidst uncertainty.
