Rising

Fallen Angel Theatre presents “Rising,” a film by Aedín Moloney. This remarkable compendium of self-filmed reflections on the subject of regeneration, rebirth and renewal from an a-list of creatives in many fields is the brainchild of Moloney. The piece was curated, assembled and shaped to stunning visual effect by Moloney, as the world was emerging from the 2020/21 Winter of Darkness. Part of the “Alone Together” series produced by Moloney in response to the isolation, anxiety and loneliness of lockdown during the pandemic, “Rising” itself emerged as a forceful affirmation of spirit, attracting just under 15K views when Fallen Angel premiered it for two weeks in July 2021. Synthesizing the contributions of the participants whom she asked to write, perform and choreograph a deeply personal response to her topic and question, “what does rising from the dark into the light mean to you right now?” Moloney elicited a cascade of memorable, often highly private moments, which she carefully assembled using her own galvanizing instincts in mixed media.
