We normally think of the force of gravity as very strong! After all, it keeps us stuck to the earth and keeps the planets in orbit around the sun. However compared to the forces that hold together the atom or even the force exerted by your refrigerator magnet, it is exceedingly weak. Experiments now being carried out at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland may provide answers to this question. Columbia University particle physicist Michael Tuts, a member of the one of the large experiments, will discuss how the ATLAS experiment at the LHC could help unravel mysteries like this one.
