Penny Arcade is back in New York after spreading her New York Values throughout Europe, Ireland and Texas. Ars Nova hosts Penny Arcarde’s Rebellion Cabaret, an antidote to denatured, sterile and homogenized performance! She joins forces with singer/songwriter Chris Rael, mastermind of one of New York’s most enduring bands, Church of Betty. The combined forces of Arcade and Rael make a powerful impact. Arcade’s insightful monologues and legendary one-liners, delivered in her internationally famous rock n’ roll style, collide with Rael’s sophisticated, topical lyrics, memorable arrangements and simply, one of the best voices in contemporary pop. The show is loaded with sexual and identity politics, hegemony and the media. It strips the veil from marketed rebellion, celebrity culture, bourgeois bohemia, The Vagina Monologues and the meaning of patriotism.
