About this show

As critically acclaimed as it is controversial, the new Off Broadway comedy Who Killed Woody Allen? is now running at the Triad Theatre in New York City. Set at Woody's fictional memorial service, Who Killed Woody Allen? supposes that celebrated filmmaker and icon Woody Allen has been murdered and his "celebrity friends" are all suspects. Featuring Woody Allen film alumni such as Alan Alda, Christopher Walken, and Leonardo DiCaprio (among others) as characters/suspects with motives that range from career jealousy, to artistic differences, to unrequited love, this Celebrity Whodunnit? will keep you laughing and guessing until the final minute. Who Killed Woody Allen? is a biting satire (an indictment really?) of our celebrity saturated culture. On top of that, the show lampoons the conventions of both murder mysteries and award shows. Who Killed Woody Allen? is a celebration of the life and career of Woody Allen, sort of... Christopher Wisner (Billy Crystal), Peter Loureiro (Christopher Walken), Jillann Dugan (Diane Keaton) and Jon Shaver (The Detective), lead an ensemble cast of New York's hottest actors and comedians. The show is directed by Tom Dunn and produced by the Empty Stage Theatre Company. Doors open at 7:00pm. Acclaim for the Off Broadway Comedy Who Killed Woody Allen? "Woody Allen should see Who Killed Woody Allen?... He just might regain his old sense of humor watching this madcap, totally enjoyable show" - The New York Daily News "If you missed it the first time around, you should be glad that you have the opportunity to rectify that mistake now." - "Showbiz artifice is a pretty easy target, but this play's delightfully tasteless 'very special surprise guest' says more about Hollywood phoniness than any of Woody's recent work has." - Time Out New York "A raucous, silly, consistently hilarious show biz send up." - The New York Daily News "Uproarious, satirical take on celebrity culture...viciously entertaining." - "A show like this is only as good as its last joke. Fortunately, many of the jokes hit home... Yet there is thought behind the laughter. The comedy may even inspire conversation." - West Side Spirit "We are reserving every legal right for our client. " - Irwin Tennenbaum, Woody Allen's Lawyer
