New York City
Can revolutions in small rooms still happen today? Premiering at the pinnacle of the Great Depression, Clifford Odets’ Waiting for Lefty was an overnight sensation, galvanizing a weary middle-class to take control of their destinies, and effecting a theatrical and political upheaval.
Director Tony Speciale’s production finds the timeliness in Odets’ subversive masterpiece beyond the current headlines: a theatrical tour-de-force that is always American, always necessary, always now.
All proceeds from Waiting for Lefty will benefit the upcoming Spring production of Tennessee Williams’ Camino Real, a Columbia University MFA thesis production to be directed by Tony Speciale.
