About This Show

Virgin of the Vieux Carre is the story of a woman who needing to believe in her boyfriend’s loyalty, looks for inspiration from the religious icons and artifacts of New Orleans streets. She finds encouragement in the shadow of Jesus that stretches across the back wall of Jackson Cathedral every evening and hopes that this will lead her to faith in her boyfriend’s fidelity. She makes a nightly pilgrimage to the spot, asking it for assurance, on her way to buy cigarettes. Will the Jesus shadow assist her in her litany of desires? Her request to the shadow for help to; work more, be a better girlfriend, more trusting, more sane, start to exercise, be a better friend, a better person, get up early, get enough sleep, be calm, find balance, be happy? Vieux Carre is a new comedy about love, life and faith by Aury Wallington (writer for HBO’s Sex and the City).
