About This Show

Opening night, July 21, 2002, Vintage Stage became the central platform for underground dance artists to perfect and expose their craft. Vintage Stage allowed the opportunity for other artists such as musicians, singers and comedic actors to showcase as well. With a six month run at Greenwich Village’s, Baggot Inn, Vintage Stage became very successful, but the venue became too small and Vintage Stage moved on to what was once known as Le Bar Bat in midtown Manhattan. For three years, Vintage Stage took a break to re-vamp and re-create its style and flair to make it a bigger and better showcase. Now, with a new style and creative maturity, Vintage Stage is back and better than ever.

From the press materials:

“We’re going to take you on a journey, back to 1920 -1930, when some of us had the opportunity to experience the energy, creativity and soul in Harlem, the Harlem Renaissance, and others of us, have only heard stories made up or otherwise.

However, through this experience, knowledge of our history and stories told around the oven, when the heat wouldn’t kick in;), Vintage Stage would like to share that feeling with you again and for the first time.

Through the silky smooth sound of our song, the flowing movement of our dance and the emotion of our poetry, it is then, when your soul has been touched.
Be blessed.”
