Triple Threat Play Festival

20% Theatre Company presents its Triple Threat Play Festival, which includes play readings as well as a full-length production.

Week one is devoted to play readings of various new works that highlight women’s voices. The week begins with Unraveling Diana by Karen Weinberg on Thursday April 7. A comedy about life, love, and what it’s like to be a lesbian working at a synagogue, Unraveling Diana is directed by Julian Ringel. Friday, April 8th is a double bill. Portia Krieger directs Nina Morrison’s EmergencE, a play about the ultimate dysfunctional family as seen through the eyes of their nine-year-old son, and Ms. Morrison directs Andy’s Bridal by Sara Jeanne Asselin. Two women work alone in a bridal shop day in and day out – but nobody seems to be getting married. The first week of the festival will end with The Wire by Leah Ryan on Saturday, April 9. Directed by Ed Cheetum, The Wire is the story of the demise of the fabulous tightrope-walking Bakolini family.

Week two features a reading of Pulp, on Thursday April 14, Friday April 15, and Saturday April 16, an irreverent comedy cabaret that serves as a sexy homage to the sultry, jazzy world of 1950’s lesbian pulp fiction. The show features music by Amy Warren and Andre Pluess, book and lyrics by Patricia Kane and direction by Eric Snydor.

Week three, The Triple Threat festival concludes with a fully staged production of The Just by Albert Camus, translated by Suzanne M. Saunders and directed by Julie Baber on Thursday April 21, Friday April 22, and Saturday April 23. Five revolutionaries must choose between their love for life and the death that will free the people. The cast features Amber Gray, Elizabeth Day, Caitlin Egleson, Dianna Marino, and Christi Waldron.
