About This Show

Written in 1888, The Wood Demon may be Anton Chekhov’s only full-length romantic comedy. The middle aged Voynitsky is haunted by failure and is desperately in love with the new, young wife of his deceased sister’s husband. Khrushshov, known as “The Wood Demon,” is an idealistic, environmentally minded landowner and doctor who illustrates that demons are a part of all of us. Cynthia Dillon directs for Desert Apple Theatre Company.
