About This Show

The Chekhov Theatre Ensemble presents the world premiere of Eric Winick’s The Vocal Lords, set in 1959 and the present day. Two years after forming, a popular vocal group disbands and two childhood friends go their separate ways. Forty years later, having taken radically different paths, the two friends reunite, recalling memories of days gone by and the painful reality of life’s many turns. Based on a true story, The Vocal Lords is a new play about destiny, reconciliation, and the ravages of time, featuring new interpretations of classic doo-wop tunes of the 1950’s such as “Silhouettes on the Shade,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” “Why do Fools Fall in Love,” and “Come Softly.”
