About This Show

Following their critically acclaimed production of Home, The Actors Company Theatre presents Edward Bond’s The Sea, directed by Scott Alan Evans.

When a wild storm shakes a quiet East Anglian seaside village, it sets off a series of events that changes the lives of all the residents. Set in 1907, just before WWI, The Sea is a fascinating mix of Bond’s stark poetry, social insight, and high comedy – creating a play with Shakespearean sweep that is both riotously funny and touchingly poignant.

“The Sea is Edward Bond’s best play so far. It is not only larger in scope, at least in human terms, but more deeply affecting and dramatically powerful than any other.”
— R.B. Marriott, The Stage and Television Today, May 1973

TACT’s revival of Edward Bond’s tricky 1973 play is well-acted but suffers from an unbalanced tone.
