About This Show

The early 1900’s. . . a remote parish hidden deep in a Michigan forest. A tiny community that clings to its belief in the hereafter because life in these barren backwoods has so little to offer. A young nun’s body is discovered early one morning, brutally murdered. Now their spiritual bedrock, Father Rivard, is accused of murdering Sister Rita, the beloved young novice who has brought light and music to this dreary gray town. And then news of the unthinkable. . . that the priest and the nun had fallen in love with each other. This gripping courtroom drama – with the audience looking on as jurors – alternates between testimony in the courtroom and instant, unexpected flashbacks of shattering visions from the past. As the loss of Sister Rita reverberates through the town, hypocrisies are pried away and desperate secrets revealed, far worse than the love of a priest struggling with his God and a nun seeking refuge from the world.
