About This Show

The Right to Understand, set in Monroe County Florida during 1938, unfolds a story of unrest between town residents when discriminatory practices are forced upon them by the local government. Using Jim Crow laws, city legislature, tried to prohibit residents from ownership in hopes of obtaining land for a new highway development project and because many were poorly educated they gave up, moved away, or were forced from their homes.
