The Moon in Vain by writer/performer Rae C. Wright is inspired by Chekov’s The Seagull, specifically the characters of the mother, Irina Nicolaevyna Arkadina and the son, Treplev. The play is set exactly one year after The Seagull ends; on the anniversary of the death of Treplev – an event that coincides with Arkadina’s first time back in fron of an audience – she is continuously haunted by the spirit of her son. Lee Gundersheimer directs.
