About This Show

White Star Productions presents The Fantasticks, the longest running musical in the world, with book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, presented through special arrangement with Music Theater International (MTI). Brady Amoon directs, with musical direction by Sheldon Forrest and choreography by Erika Crocco.

The Fantasticks, which ran from 1960 until 2002 at The Sullivan Street Playhouse was the longest running musical in the world. The original genius of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt lives on in White Star’s Production of the “timeless fable” of two young lovers who are brought together over the objection of their feuding fathers through the agency of a darkly romantic impresario to see life both in the magic of moonlight and the heat of the sun. It’s story unfolds inextricably within its music: Deceptively simple songs that have enmeshed themselves in the collective heart of our culture including “Try to Remember” and “Soon It’s Gonna Rain.”
