About the Show

The Heights Players continues its season of firsts with its first production of the classic 1938 musical comedy, The Boys From Syracuse. With music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart, this joyous score contains well-known standards paired with a book by the legendary George Abbott – it’s a combination that celebrates The Golden Age of Broadway in all its glory. Based on The Comedy of Errors, The Boys From Syracuse was the first musical to use one of Shakespeare’s plays as its source material and it remains the most madcap musical farce ever to animate the stage. The story is set in Ancient Greece, where two sets of long lost twins are about to be reunited. Before these twins can meet, the entire city of Ephesus gets wrapped up in their mistaken identity mishaps, including jilted wives, star-crossed lovers, disgruntled courtesans, outraged constables, loan sharks, and a nutty sorcerer. A story to keep you roaring with laughter until the tangled web is unraveled!
