About This Show

The Bee Opera, a new comic opera by composer/lyricist Sorrel Hays and lyricist Denise Duhamel, is directed by Obie-award winner Barbara Vann. The show is a mock-heroic opera about a hive that desperately needs a new queen, Queens ain’t what they used to be, and no one wants to do nothing but lay eggs her whole life. Meanwhile, a manipulative Worker tries to sell the hive to the military for bomb-sniffing purposes. Everything is resolved on the Queen for a Day show, and there’s honey for all.
