New York City
Tam Lin is a Halloween-themed fairy tale based on the traditional Scottish border ballad. The ballad is well known in the world of
folk music, and the British folk-rock bands Fairport Convention and
Steeleye Span each recorded a version in the 1970s. But this fairy tale
was never made into a Disney movie, probably because the plot is
about an unmarried pregnant heroine determined to rescue her baby’s
father.
Written by Hoboken-based playwright Nancy G. McClernan, the play is
influenced by both Shakespeare and Monty Python, but has a twenty-
first century sensibility.
