Sunrize Highway Live From New York

About the Show

Perhaps you saw her acclaimed Broadway debut in the short lived Shogun: The Musical or her break through performance as Grizabella in the Commack Dinner Theater production of Cats. You may have even have been lucky enough to catch her controversial performance as the first female Tevye in musical theater history in Westbury Music Fair’s Fiddler on the Roof. Now, Broadway legend-in-the-making Sunrize Highway returns with her first new show in three years, Sunrize Highway Live From New York.

The show is a rare, intimate intimate live concert version of Ms. Highway’s critically acclaimed Las Vegas act at the New York New York Hotel (where, to compete with Celine Dion, they built Ms. Highway an exact replica of the Nassau Coliseum). Ms. Highway will use this opportunity to workshop new material for her upcoming Broadway solo debut, slated for The Gershwin Theater this summer. The show features unique renditions of showstoppers from Dreamgirls, The Wiz, Little Shop of Horrors, and many other shows interspersed with Ms. Highway’s whimsical reflections, winsome musings, sage advice, cautionary tales and insightful showbiz stories.

Sunrize Highway Live From New York is written by Joseph Ritsch and directed by Billy Mitchell. Sunrize Highway, a loving satire on the great divas of contemporary musical theater, is the creation of Joseph Ritsch, a graduate of the Playwrights Horizons acting program. The character of Sunrize Highway, a rising Long Island musical theater ingenue, has appeared in three other full-length solo shows: Sunrize’s Back, Sunrize with a “Z” and Sunrize: The Musical.
