Story of an Unknown Man

Christopher Carter Sanderson directs Story of an Unknown Man by Anthony Pennino, an adaptation of Chekhov’s first novel. Set in the upheaval of modern Chechnya, the action takes place in a bombed-out schoolhouse where the schoolmaster, his girlfriend and a former student are hiding from both sides of this cruel war. Onto the scene burst a crew of actors who are fleeing the city. In exchange for their supper, they give a performance of a tale of murder, spying, and intrigue that mirrors the current political destruction that’s going on outside the schoolhouse.
