Presented by des i am productions, Theresa Rebeck’s Spike Heels returns to off-off Broadway. This 1990’s comedy about sexual harassment continues to offer a window into the timeless complexities and nuances of relationships between the sexes.
Directed by Jenn Bornstein, this latest production of Spike Heels is less a commentary on unethical practices in the work place and class gender and more an exploration into emotions and strength that arises from adversity and ownership of one’s actions and interactions. Often billed as a modern day Pygmalion this comedy / drama examines what one has to give up and compromise on to find love and what one isn’t willing to compromise on. Throw in political philosophers, disillusionment, a lot of screaming and dangerous footwear and you have an evening of rollicking laughs, emotions and eventual truths.
