About This Show

Tony Award nominee John Ellison Conlee stars in So Close, Marin Gazzaniga’s new play, directed by Michael Sexton.

Blind Camel Productions and Rising Phoenix Repertory present this world premiere. The play is inspired by interviews and discussions with domestic violence survivors, batterers, social workers, police officers, and others who deal with domestic violence. It is an attempt, through one couple’s story, to expose the complexity of the issue, and to examine the ways we all love, hurt and survive in relationships. The play centers on Claire, who, at the age of 14, met 16 year old Joey and they fell madly in love. With the help of her family, Joey, and a few friends, Claire narrates this compelling story of a violent relationship.
