About This Show

Slideride represents the unique merging of four of the most talented trombonists roaming the international jazz scene. While the saxophone quartet has been a mainstay of jazz ensembles since the 1920’s, Slideride broke new ground as the first trombone quartet to emerge from the revolutionary 1970s jazz scene. A juxtaposition of distinctly different styles and strengths, each trombonist brings to the quartet his individual vision and voice.

This show also includes guest poet Tracie Morris who is one of today’s most eloquent and inventive spoken-word artists, working in theater, dance, music and film. Since 1991, Morris has collaborated with musicians in all genres, but extensively in jazz.
