About This Show

Serenade the World, featuring the music and words of Oscar Brown, Jr., is a lively retrospective of the man they called the Grandfather of Rap. Jazz Man, poet and performer, Oscar Brown Jr. captured many currents of the 20th century from his earliest “Rags and Ole Iron” to the celebrated numbers “Joy”, “Brown Baby”, “Chain Gang”, “Signifiyin’ Monkey” and “Afro-Blue”. His last song, “Serenade the World,” was written with Genovis Albright as the title number of this musical retrospective of his life and work.
