About the Show

Boston area choreographer Rebecca Rice presents a mix of solos and group work with seven dancers. Her work is a distinctive mix of modern dance and classical ballet.

The New York evening includes a special performance of Bach Dances (2004), a work choreographed to seven movements of JS Bach’s cherished Cello Suites. The music is played by renowned cellist artist, Emmanuel Feldman, of Cello de Basso. Live cello accompanies other works, including Stratas (2005), a new work created to Pulitzer-prize winning composer John Harbison’s 1994 Suites for Solo Cello . Echoes (2004), a powerful ensemble work created for the Boston Ballet’s 50th Gala concert, is performed to MIT composer Elena Ruehr’s Shimmer. To round out the program, Rice presents Paradigm (2000), a high-energy classic to JS Bach’s Piano Concerto in C Major and the solo, Indigo (2002), created for Sara Knight with original costumes designed by New York Award-winning Burberry designer, Martin Cooper. Dancers include Jillian St. Germain and Francoise Voranger of Ballet New York, Sara Knight of the Royal Ballet and Eifman Ballets, Arian Georg and Julianna Nagy of Boston Ballet and Adrina Devitre from Ballet Met.
