The Hypothetical Theatre Company presents the New York premiere of Quake, by Melanie Marnich. The play is the story of Lucy, who crosses the continent to find “the big love.” In a succession of surreal, contorted affairs, she fails to reconcile her driving need for ideal love with its reality. On her way, she is distracted by her obsessive admiration for a celebrated “black widow” — America’s Most Wanted Woman, an astrophysicist who is a serial killer, and for that woman’s revenge methods. “That Woman” coaches Lucy through many relationships that lead her to “the Big Love” upon completion of her East to West Journey.
