About This Show

Pyramid of The Sun is a true and historically accurate play that takes place January 19th, 1927. It is the last night in the life of the former empress Carlota as she relives her years on the Mexican throne through her young secretary. The secretary becomes Carlota and, through humor and poignancy, re-enacts this true story.

The story chronicles the hopes and idealism the young royals brought to this impoverished country, only to find their grand dreams of reform and equality dashed by the corruption of the Catholic Church, the wealthy land barons, and power-hungry revolutionaries. It is an epic saga of star-crossed royals who were centuries ahead of their time.
