About This Show

The Astoria Performing Arts Center presents David Auburn’s Pulitzer-prize winning play Proof, directed by Tom Wojtunik.

Set in contemporary Chicago, Proof tells the story of Catherine, a young woman and daughter of Robert, a renowned mathematician struck by mental illness. When a revolutionary proof surfaces, the mystery of its authorship brings personal issues to a boil. Paced as a thriller and infused with crisp humor throughout, the real drama hinges on the dynamics between the play’s four characters.

In 2001, Proof was honored with a Pulitzer Prize as well as a Tony Award. In 2005, a movie version was released, starring Gwyneth Paltrow.

Note to guardians: there is strong language in this play.
