About This Show

Follow Ishmael as he joins the mysterious Captain Ahab and the Pequod’s savage crew on a quest for truth, profit, and revenge.

Or, The Whale is new stage adaptation of Moby-Dick that brings to life Melville’s classic text with a highly physical, site-specific, and interactive staging to create a performance that combines Shakespearean tragedy, high seas action-adventure, traditional whaling shanties, and (of course) a few very sophisticated dick jokes.

Starting in Cuyler Gore Park at the intersection of Fulton St and Greene Ave in Fort Greene (or around the corner at South Oxford Space if raining), Strange Harbor takes audiences on a voyage of singing, fighting, and philosophizing through the real-life monster hunt of the American whaling industry and one of the greatest novels ever written.

Complimentary grog is served with every performance (virgin grog available).
