CAP 21 presents One Child Born: The Music & Life of Laura Nyro by Kate Ferber and Louis Greenstein as part of its Monday Night Reading Series.

Brimming with talent, rife with contradictions, Laura Nyro burst onto the scene as a Bronx teen in the early 60’s. Bridging Tin Pan Alley, doo-wop, pop and soul music, she recorded 11 albums of her own music and penned hits for the likes of Barbra Streisand; Peter, Paul and Mary; Three Dog Night; and The Fifth Dimension. Never willing to compromise her art, Nyro paved the way for women artists today and changed the face of contemporary music. The one-woman theatrical event features a score of Nyro songs and is a celebration of the music and independent spirit of a true original.
