About This Show

Nude Boys Prancing About tells the story of Phil, a gay playwright renowned for his use of male nudity. Phil is confronted in a dream by Franklin G. Hillborough IV, a wealthy southern garment manufacturer, who is being blackmailed by a Christian fundamentalist competitor who discovers Franklin’s harem of beautiful young men. Of course, Franklin happens to be a fictional character from Phil’s first play, “Naked Ransom,” and he has a bone to pick with Phil – he wants the playwright to change his play. Franklin basically desires two things: to get a happy romantic ending for himself, and to eliminate the nude boys who “litter the stage” in every one of Phil’s plays. As Phil and Franklin engage in a heated debate over the worth and purpose of Phil’s work, scenes from “Naked Ransom,” a classically poetic but corny potboiler, are recreated to hilarious effect. There will be no performance on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, Jan 1.
