About This Show

Not Just for Shock Value: A Femmes-Clowns Assemblage is an offbeat circus where classic physical comedy takes on a new figure.

In the tradition of Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett, the show is a series of vignettes, short sketches and madcap dance numbers – using movement, text, and dance to reflect the clowns’ unique range of voice and style. It resides in the realm of the neo-clown movement, i.e. no big shoes or baggy pants, and zig-zags between broad humor and the darkly satirical.

The clowns come from various backgrounds: theatre, dance, improv, music, circus clowning, and regular civilian life. All have trained with the show’s creator, clown virtuoso Kendall Cornell, and have clowned under her direction on assorted performance projects including an event commissioned by Cirque du Soleil for the NYC opening of Corteo.
