About This Show

The Kitchen presents the new show, Night Light by award-winning choreographer Ann Carlson. This large-scale site-specific performance work takes over Chelsea, turning it into a living stage. In the tradition of tableau vivant, live performers re-create archival photos in the exact spots where the photos were originally taken. History collides with contemporary life as a farmer goes to market with her pig in what is now a gallery and a woman sells newspapers from 1895 on the corner where commuters get cash from the ATM. Seen in the context of a walking tour, area residents will lead the audience through back alleys, churches, gardens, apartments and street corners to view these three dimensional photos. Night Light concludes at the Kitchen where the final tableau comes to life.
$15 tickets for Student/Seniors and Chelsea residents with ID.
