About This Show

Combining music, dance, storytelling, spoken word and experimental theater, MEMBUH: [Confessions of] The Only Generation explores what it means to be young and black today in America. The piece examines the confusions and insights in the lives of six “Descendants” as they cope with the imminent death of their Sister. As Descendants, they search for guidance in the blurred memories of stories once told by heart. They are The Only Generation, left without elders, struggling to remember an inherited past, to imagine a life of freedom, and to create their own legacy.
