About This Show

Krasang Tree is a new, intercultural music-theater work based on the life and Sacred Vows of acclaimed Cambodian poet U Sam Oeur. The performance depicts the rich cultural heritage of the Cambodian people and their struggle to come to terms with the suffering, trauma, and violence of the Pol Pot regime and refugee experience. It is a story of hope, courage, conviction, and the quest for spiritual rebirth. Taking an innovative, multidisciplinary approach, it unites the language, sounds, and gestures of traditional Khmer music, song, and dance drama with contemporary techniques and forms of Western theater and music.
