About This Show

Charles Tolliver’s accclaimed autobiographical comedy/drama Judy and Me returns for two encore performances.

The play recounts the true story of sixteen-year old “Anthony,” trapped in the narrow minded suburb of Elmont, Long Island– the real home town of playwright Tolliver. An outcast at his jock high school, Anthony is the daily target of verbal and physical abuse from his classmates. Things are equally tenuous at home, where his father is a walking time bomb and a constant source of pain to Anthony and his mother. The teen finds his only escape in the music and entertainment of the legendary Judy Garland who comes to life before his very eyes, helping him through his daily struggles with encouragement, wit, and strength. Through his passion for (and camaraderie with) Garland, Anthony learns to deal with his dysfunctional family, his horrible school life, and the realization that he’s gay.

The show contains adult language, adult issues, and gay-themed topics. Recommended ages 16-up.
