I, Anatolia

Turkish playwright Gungor Dilmen’s I, Anatolia pursues a historical journey through a feminine perspective. It relates the “individual histories” of fifteen female characters, all from Anatolia and of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Meet Cybele, the Hititite Goddess of Welfare; Anna Comnena, the first female historian; Theodora, the Roman Empress; and Halide Edip Adivar, American educated author and modern Turkish political activist.
