About This Show

The Tank presents Help Wanted: A Personal Search for Meaningful Employment at the Start of the 21st Century, an epic, comic, tour-de-force debut from Josh Lefkowitz, a fiercely original and new autobiographical monologist. The show begins with Lefkowitz, our narrator, having garnered his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, working as a parking attendant. Fate and chance combine to create a series of opportunities that lead Josh away from home and out into the unknown world, where seemingly everything – sexuality, race, vocation, motivation – is turned upside down. Ideas about identity ebb and flow, while Josh continues to turn to the life and work of his hero, Spalding Gray, for answers to tough questions. A blend of theatre, entertainment, documentary and literature, the piece celebrates the ultimately uplifting uncertainty of life. It pays homage to those artists who came before while simultaneously ushering in a new era of theatrical creation from this forthcoming generation.
