The Brooklyn Theatre Arts Project inc. presents an encore weekend of performances of its production of Godspell.
Godspell is a fun yet passionate musical based upon the gospel according to St. Matthew. Stylized music revitalized this once period piece appealing to a new audience while maintaining a traditional message. Through parables, songs, dance and improvisational ways the actors explain the teachings of Christ. Act one is a series of lessons and parables of Jesus, appearing in no particular order. Act two follows the passion story, with familiar scenes of Jesus’ interrogation by the Pharisees, The Last Supper, Gethsemane etc, while still interspersing stories and teachings. Ultimately, Godspell is about the formation of a community of eight individuals, led and guided by Jesus. It is BTAP’s goal to begin to build their community with Godspell. Paul Campione directs.
