Feste San Gatti (Feast of the Cat Saint) is a rousing reaffirmation of old fashioned romance triumphing in our cold hearted modern times. The play’s story follows Uncle Shotzi, an elderly aspiring Sinatra, who offers his niece Gina’s hand in marriage to Don Funzo, an eccentric Sicilian fisherman turned lottery winner, in exchange for a record contract. Zany twists and belly laughs come along the way as Gina and Don Funzo try to leave behind their troubled pasts as they awkwardly yet tenderly come closer together. But Gina and Don Funzo aren’t the only people in the house bitten by the love bug; Uncle Shotzi also finds love in a house blessed by a cat saint! This exuberant ode to outrageous fairy tale love makes a hilarious yet powerful case that fires of romance can be kindled in even the most baren of hearths and hearts.
