In Faye Driscoll’s new work, Wow Mom, Wow, post modern dance meets pop musical meets death metal fantasy. Through an evening of heartbreak, belly laughs and butt talk, an absurdly logical alternate dimension is illuminated. Driscoll, a 2006/2007 Dance Artist In Residence at BAX, seems to be describing our time and simultaneously asking these age-old questions: Who am I? Who are you? and What are we doing here? The answer could finally be found somewhere in Wow Mom, Wow. Driscoll’s refreshing, darkly comic, just-under-the-skin work hits on vulnerable nerves and is delivered in smartly made, self-conscious packages.
