About This Show

This is the first NYC revival of Epitaph for George Dillon since the 1959 Tony Award nominated production. Set in virtually bankrupt post-war England, Epitaph for George Dillon tells the story of what happens to Mrs. Elliot’s family when she decides to adopt charismatic writer/actor, George Dillon, as a surrogate son. Full of blistering wit, erotic manipulation and powerful ideas, the play tackles familiar Osborne themes, such as religion (and Osborne’s hatred thereof), the casual deception of everyday life and scorn of the theatre. As we are living in a time of celebrity mania, Osborne captures our imagination now just as he did in 1958 when principles were being exchanged for bland materialism.

The current production is directed by renowned acting teacher and director, Larry Moss, who has coached Helen Hunt in As Good As It Gets, Hilary Swank in Boys Don’t Cry (Academy Award), and Million Dollar Baby (Academy Award), and Michael Clarke Duncan in The Green Mile.
